WHO WE ARE
Academic supervisors must:
- Be a college faculty member or researcher in Quebec, capable of ensuring appropriate supervision to enable the student to carry out a project in the fields of natural sciences, mathematics, or engineering
ELIGIBILITY
$5,000 AWARD PROVIDES COLLEGE STUDENTS THE OPPORTUNITY FOR HANDS-ON RESEARCH AND TRAINING
- Allow students to develop a network through collaborations with professors or researchers
- Give students a chance to acquire training and practical experience in research so they can become drivers of innovation in the future
- Develop students’ research skills and ensure they increase their technical knowledge within the fields of natural sciences, mathematics, or engineering
- Improve students’ awareness of the diverse training and career paths available to them
- Identify new research links and directions, opportunities for strengthened research collaborations or project continuity through other Mitacs or FRQNT programs

In collaboration with Fonds de recherche du Québec – Nature et technologies (FRQNT), we have launched an initiative providing a $5,000 grant for Quebec-based college students to undertake a short-term, paid research training internship with a Quebec college, CEGEP, CCTT, or university in the fields of natural sciences, mathematics, or engineering.
The project the student embarks on can be completed full-time or part-time:

HOW WE HELP YOU ACHIEVE YOUR GOALS
- An 80-member Business Development team means we have the partnerships and expertise to support collaborative research projects between the CEGEP/polytechnic and industry
- Mitacs’s contribution provides a stipend for your students’ research opportunities
- Full-time projects must be 12-16 weeks in duration, completed over the summer months with a latest start date of May 31, 2021
- Part-time projects must be 28-32 weeks in duration, with a latest start date of September 30, 2021
- For both full-time or part-time internships, project hours must be reasonable to complete the project successfully within the timeframe specified and allow interns appropriate exposure to research
Home institutions (where the student is enrolled) must:
- Be a CEGEP or college recognized by the FRQNT
- Assume fiduciary responsibility for management of the award
Students must:
- Be enrolled as a college/CEGEP student at an eligible public or private college/CEGEP recognized by the FRQNT
- Be enrolled in the fields of natural sciences, mathematics, or engineering
- Not currently be participating in another Mitacs project and not be a previous recipient of this award program
Host institutions (where the student will be hosted for their project) can:
- Be a CEGEP or college recognized by the FRQNT
- Be a CCTT
- Be a recognized Mitacs Quebec university and
- Assume appropriate insurance coverage for students undertaking research work on-campus
CEGEPs can submit a maximum of 4 projects with 2 serving as reserve projects. Due to the limited number of awards, institutions may be asked to prioritize projects, as projects are subject to limited funding. Institutions will be notified after May 3.
